We've made it through the past one month.
And we came back as CHAMPIONS!

What did we do?
We barely had time to blog about what has been done throughout our one month.
But let's make it simple shall we? =)

we aimed not for saving only certain recycling products, but we aim to save the entire environment. How do we do that? The best way by far is by recycling! you see, if you recycle you save many resources at once, for example, recycling just one 100 plus aluminium can.
Did you know that recycling just that one can is able to save up 90% of the energy used to make a new can out of raw aluminium? that is enough electricity to light up a 10w bulb for an hour. Not only that, you save more than half the amount of water used to produce an aluminium can from raw aluminium. you save on air pollution too!

All in all, recycling saves everything, and when I say everything, I'm meaning the environment. =)

Our projects are split into 3 categories that are:
1. a) educating and raising awareness of students in school with talks.
b) giving environmental talks at the neighbouring primary school.
c) giving an environmental awareness talk at the housing area of Bandar Botanic.

2. a) visiting factories to study how recycling works.
b) organising visits for students to recycling factories
c) having program nilam with reading materials about the environment.

3. a) paper pulp products making
b) recycleable material collection
c) launching of Bilik Kitar Semula
d) Paper for Trees project (we sell papers to be recycled and buy trees with the money)

We couldn't get our own pictures. It all got lost out in the world somewhere. Now we know our team actually lacked a photographer.

During the finals, we went there with confidence.
We started shaking when everything started to take a bitter twist.
We fought to maintain our cool and confidence just to finish what we began.
We were disappointed with the incidents.
And finally, we were shocked with the results.
Tears flowing, smiling faces of supporters and team mates, the finals was ours.
We can't say that we deserved to win, neither can we say that we didn't deserve to win.
Bad things and good things happen, and they all happen for a reason.

The earth is going through turmoil and so much destruction,all of these happens for a reason.
The reason is for us to know how priceless but fragile our earth is.

Bandar Botanic Awareness Talk for Children

Hey all, I'm updating on our Bandar Botanic trip where my team and I went to the Alphabet Garden of Bandar Botanic to raise the awareness of the children there regarding recycling. Not only that, we taught them how to make recycled paper by themselves.

It started off with us gathering the kids. some of us went this direction, some to another, and eventually managed to gather with us 20 kids. (mind you, they came willingly and eagerly!) Most of them as young as 4 and some also as old as 12.

After gathering all of them together, with the help of a few teachers, we started the ice breaking session that was to get them to play a few games. This allowed them to mingle around and get to know one another.

After the ice breaking session was over, Chee Kiat took over by giving his talk on recycling. He taught them many facts that they themselves were struggling to remember as they were shocked with the topic "if we don't recycle.."

Chee Kiat's talk ended quickly and was handed over to Bryant with the quiz session. You could see their faces. Their eyes lit up at the moment Bryant mentioned the word quiz. Many of them were jumping and jumping to get a chance to answer the questions. All of them answered quite precisely. see how smart kids are these days? =) Each right answer was rewarded with a sweet.

Danny then took over with the demonstration on making recycled paper. After the brief demonstration, everyone was split into two groups. The first group, which was under Danny, was to make recycled paper out of newspapers. The second group, under Bryant, was to make recycled paper out of used A4 papers. The newspapers all seemed disgusting, but hey the kids enjoyed themselves through and through! some not even willing to let go of the poor tub of paper pulp. Everyone had fun.

When it was over, the kids then took pictures with us. Aww.. so sad to part with kids that are so eager to learn from us. =) they took a goodie pack and then left for home.

End of the day: We not only managed to get enough kids, we were happy with what we achieved that day. The most important thing was that the kids not only enjoyed themselves, but they can explain to us the facts about recycling and the process of making paper without any hints. They have learnt what we were aiming to teach them.

Softboard Making

We've brainstormed over and over..

And Ta Daa~~ we came up with an idea to make a soft board.

Or also known as a notice board? yeah. We weren't confident about it initially, but we gradually grew confident about this idea.

This is newspaper pulp. The main ingredient to our soon-to-be softboard.

End of the day: Anything is possible. We targetted, we feared, but we conquered fear and conquered success.

Support Recyling laaa! You're a Malaysian Right?

Hey all. Apologies for the late update. The internet started seeing someone else instead of me =( anyway, here are a couple of our pictures from our visit to 6 JK Recycle Enterprise. Scroll down to view them..

Cigarette boxes. Unexpected?

See that guy in the.. tractor? =P he was transporting blocks of compressed paper and loading them onto trucks. Each block weighs a tonne each. unbelievable!

This is the machine that compresses all the paper into big blocks. Lucky no one mistaken it for a slide D:
Nah, the truck isn't moving. He's just making sure everything is in place.

The toughest job there: sorting out papers.

See how many plastic bottles are there? and they still say there are few hundred categories of plastic bottles!

This is no Man vs Machine scene. He's compressing plastic bottles into 600kg blocks.

End of the Day: We learnt alot that day. Just observing the place tells alot. one of them is that Malaysians aren't recycling enough! D:

Bryant here! I'm taking over the blog posting. Wasn't able to blog as I was unable to access the internet for a fortnight. But hey! there's no stopping us, Greenity, from telling others what we've done! I thank Danny for doing such a good job trying to update this blog.

Anywaaaay, we've been to the 6 JK Recycle Enterprise. They don't exactly reprocess recyclable materials. What they do is just that they sort out and compile everything before sending it all off to GSPP sdn bhd, which would be our next destination! =D

What's Greenity? Greenity is a team of La Sallians that are given the task of raising awareness among the students.
Greenity is a team consisting of Lim Jih Yang, Frederick Ang, Te Kang Siang, and Bryant Lee.
What awareness you may ask..

The team has chosen to raise the awareness to the everyone of the importance and the benefits of the 3R principle to both the environment and to our human race. The aim of Greenity is to complete the cyclic process of the tree to paper. Instead of getting papers just recycled into papers again, the idea trying to be pointed out by the team is to find a way to transform recycled paper and the usual paper materials back into trees again. You see the circle now?

If you can't see the circle, or if you don't understand what we're trying to mean, then words and explanations aren't enough for you.
Join the team in their projects and events they have ahead. See what the team is doing and what is the end product. To understand something is by being part of something...

Make up your minds and pick a side: the side of those who cut down trees with no thoughts of the future and also those who do not give a damn about recycling papers, OR us, Greenity, and the many others that are standing up for the cause of recycling.
